A Quick Word on Traffic

A Quick Word on Traffic

City living comes with traffic there is no denying that. We are slowly starting to learn the patterns and flows of traffic for our area. Since we live right by one of the entrances to the Bay Bridge there is A LOT of traffic during rush hour. Rush hour however, is different then I originally thought it would be.

When we chose this location I figured 7:00-9:00 am would be busy with people coming in to the city and 5:00-7:00 pm with people leaving.

I was a little off. For some reason the rush hour for people leaving the city starts at 3:00 pm! Who leaves work at 3? On a sunny day it can start as early as 2:30 pm. I haven’t figured out why this is, if anyone knows please enlighten me.

I learned my lesson on this the hard way. Atlas and I went to a park on the other side of town (4 miles away) and we got stuck downtown for over 45 minutes trying to get home. It was 3:30 pm when we were trying to get home. We were completely stuck 5 blocks from home. That was a very frustrating day! Luckily, Atlas was totally fine watching a movie on his iPad but I was frustrated and hungry.

Since that day we try and do all our outings in the morning and make sure we are home by 2:00 pm. This has worked so far.

I haven't tried public transport with him yet but I imagine that will be packed during the same rush hours.

I thought about using Uber but you have to have a car seat so that doesn’t work for us (its way to heavy to carry around).

I’ll let you guys know if I find any tricks to beating traffic but for now if you are driving in for the day make sure you get out of here by 3!

Thanks for reading.
